Special Project
Landmarks of the Region of Waterloo
About
The goal of this project is to create a captivating series of landscape paintings featuring notable locations throughout the Waterloo region. Tatiana moved to the area a few years ago and was fascinated by how Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge are both bustling and serene, closely connected to nature. This inspired her to depict the most remarkable spots in the region.

A cozy and lesser-known gem is the Homer Watson House and Gallery, a place dedicated to preserving, teaching, and exhibiting art. In addition to the iconic historical main building, there is a gorgeous garden with a relaxing atmosphere and a charming coach house, both beautifully depicted in this artwork.
Waterloo Park
Oil, 2023, 24 * 12 inch
The Perimeter Institute at the University of Waterloo is one of the most striking buildings you'll encounter during a walk or bike ride through Waterloo Park. It's remarkable how seamlessly the university and park blend together. The Institute building, lake promenade, and cooling station are recent additions to the city, yet they've quickly become beloved spots for many. This area is especially enchanting during the golden hour, when the warm sunlight illuminates the building's walls

The Tram at Market Square
Oil, 2023, 20 * 40 inch
Ask anyone about the region's landmarks, and Market Square in Kitchener and the ION Train will surely top the list. The green glass building with its clock tower, originally built as a shopping mall, is a prominent feature of the city. Though not the busiest location, it stands out with its two glass bridges that create unusual shapes. Located in the heart of the city, it sits right beside a tram station. This artwork captures the dynamic lines of the buildings and the movement of the train.
Woolwich Farm
Oil, 2023, 20 * 20 inch
Residents of the region know that beyond the cities, farmland stretches all the way to the horizon. This rich agricultural landscape supports numerous farmers' markets, both large and small. These markets have fostered a culture of spending Saturday mornings with family. This particular farm, located near St. Jacobs Market, is a familiar sight from the road dividing Waterloo and Woolwich Township.
Fairwiev Mall
Oil, 2023, 18 * 24 inch
Talking about the malls, Fairview Mall, located on the edge of the city, has become one of the busiest places to shop, eat, and spend time with friends and family. This massive mall has different faces, one of which is a prominent brick wall with a tower that attracts attention from the highway.
Victoria Park
Oil, 2023, 18 * 24 inch
Victoria Park, located in the heart of Kitchener, is another important city park. This piece was created in the summer of 2023, the moment when there were too many changes around its island and construction, thus it was less busy than usual. Despite this, the park's famous residents, the Canada Geese, were everywhere, enjoying their surroundings And this painting is all about them!
ION
Oil, 2024, 20 * 20 inch
A great spot to observe the ION is right in Waterloo Park. Anyone who visits will see that it’s a major attraction for the youngest ones, who can endlessly watch the tram barrier open and close. My own son asked me to bring him to the park to watch the bariers work for a few weeks in a raw.
Ken Seiling Museum
Oil, 2023, 24 *8 inch
As you travel from Kitchener towards Cambridge, you can't miss the Ken Seiling's Museum Building. Its bright rectangular blocks and distinctive architecture beckon you to visit and explore the region's history.
